Description
Ortho-Phosphoric Acid 37% Blue color. Great Thixotropy. Ortho-phosphoric acid 37% used for 15 to 30 seconds is the most efficient means used to etch enamel and/or dentin.
Its use on dentin promotes rapid and total removal of the dentin smear (“smear layer”), with the consequent opening of the ends of the tubules, allowing the resin to penetrate more easily; and the fact that calcium and phosphate ions present in dentin and dentinal fluids are capable of combining with ortho-phosphoric acid, neutralizing its toxic effect on dentin.
This promotes an increase in micromechanical retention and reduces marginal micro-leakage.
